Hi, I’m Nicolas Munoz, Business Development Representative at VA Partners. I believe good stories stick with people, so here’s mine.
I started my career as a mechanical engineer in Chile. Back then, I was shy and struggled with public speaking. One day, I couldn’t present my own work during a major railway project. That moment was a wake-up call. I knew I had to work on my communication skills if I wanted to grow professionally.
So I enrolled in courses, and along the way, I realized I’m actually a people person. That shift helped me move into management, and eventually led me to start my own food business. I created a B2B catering service for corporate events, later expanding into a food truck and a restaurant inside a client’s facility. For five years, I had a blast growing the business and learning how to sell by solving real problems for other businesses.
Later, I moved to Canada to build on those skills. I earned a postgraduate diploma in Strategic Global Business Management from Conestoga College, worked with international entrepreneurs as a student ambassador, and trained in B2B sales through the Sales Lab, a program focused on software sales, advanced prospecting, negotiation, cold calling, and communication strategies.
Some think sales and engineering don’t mix, but I see it differently. Both are about solving problems. I bring that mindset to every client conversation, helping them find the right solutions, not just making a sale.
Outside of work, I’m all about food, music, and time with friends and family. My perfect weekend? A barbecue, good tunes, and swapping stories around the fire.
