How to Improve Your Inbound Marketing Strategy

Inbound Marketing

Inbound marketing is not only a way to improve your web presence, it is also a tactic for generating leads and new business.

Are you trying to improve your inbound marketing strategy, but don’t know where to start? Here are a few suggestions for areas that may need some work.

Website & SEO

How do others find you? In most cases it’s through your website. It’s important to have a website that is kept up-to-date with new information. Search engines love new content, so make sure you are producing new work, regularly. This can include blog posts, white papers, guides infographics, images etc. At VA Partners, we publish two new blogs every week and aim to release a white paper every quarter.

Use tools like Google Keyword Planner to be in-the-know when it comes to what people are searching for. Build a plan around these keywords and start producing content based on this research. It’s important to develop content that corresponds with your line of work. The more content you are creating the more likely that you will pop up on the next Google search.

Blogging

As mentioned above, blogging is a great way to get visitors to your website on a regular basis. Blogging improves your SEO and showcases your knowledge. Write about the things you are good at and you are more likely to generate leads. If you are consistently producing great material, it will entice visitors to check back, regularly.

Social Media

Social media is a great tool for getting noticed. It’s beneficial to share your own content and third party content. By sharing useful information you can easily gain a following of people who are interested in the work that you do. We find social media a great resource for sharing our blogs, which allows visitors to easily browse through your website. Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn are the social channels that work best for us. Depending on your line of work, you may choose another platform to reach your audience. It’s important to be present on the channels that your potential customers frequent.

Email Newsletter

Our newsletter is sent out monthly and highlights our most popular blog posts from that month, upcoming events and interesting third party content, that we think are worth sharing. Our subscribers have signed up through different outlets on our site including white paper downloads and through the SumoMe plugin. Collecting their contact information allows us to qualify the leads and in return, provide them with great free content that they could benefit from.

Referring Sites

Another tactic that we have found works really well for us, is having our content posted on third party sites. This can consist of guest blogs or presentations. Just recently, Mark Elliott presented B2B Sales for Startups at MaRS. His presentation was taped and posted on the MaRS website. Now, people who visit the MarS website can easily find us.
