As the marketing landscape continues to change, and with AI and marketing automation leading the charge, these technologies are no longer just buzzwords but essential tools for reshaping how businesses engage with their customers.
The potential for AI-driven automation to amplify marketing efforts is limitless. But with rapid innovation comes the need for thoughtful strategy, so we again asked our trusted marketing experts “What are your plans/thoughts around AI and marketing automation in 2025?”
Let’s dive into the possibilities and challenges ahead.
Vanessa Green – Greenlight Content
From a writing perspective, I’d like to see less reliance on AI as an end-to-end content and copy tool. It’s great for ideation, outlines, research (that’s vetted), tightening, and reworking writing. But when we just copy and paste generative AI output, everything ends up sounding so derivative. A human-in-the-loop approach is necessary, and we must also acknowledge generative AI’s weaknesses. I like the phrase ‘Augmented Intelligence’ because it focuses on using generative AI to complement human intelligence rather than replace it.
Marketing automation will continue integrating AI technologies for efficiency and growth at a rapid pace, including hyper-personalization, predictive analytics and chatbots. Again, retaining a sense of humanity throughout our marketing is key for creating meaningful connections. This means ensuring a human answers a phone or responds to an email, having personality in our communication, focusing on empathetic messaging and, most of all, being transparent about how and when we’re using AI as part of our marketing efforts.

We feel that 2024 was all about ‘dipping a toe’ and trying AI tools however 2025 will be the year of ‘jumping in’ to gain a first mover advantage. For example, companies can differentiate significantly from their competition by launching a natural language AI tool their website visitors can interact with like the way we interact with ChatGPT. In 2025 we’re going to start seeing websites where the home page prompt is “how can I help you?” and you’ll interact with a company or a brand’s website the way you’d interact with ChatGPT, mimicking the way a sales associate interacts with a customer in-person at a store.

AI and marketing automation will continue revolutionizing marketing in 2025, shifting from operational support to becoming central to strategy execution. Here’s how I see its role expanding in one particular area:
Conversational AI will be a cornerstone of marketing strategy. Its ability to engage with customers in real-time, 24/7, will transform how businesses interact with potential clients. By analyzing data and user behaviour, Conversational AI can deliver highly personalized interactions, from answering specific product queries to offering tailored content and recommendations based on past behaviours or interests. It will also improve lead nurturing by automating routine communications, such as follow-ups or qualification questions, while still maintaining a personalized touch. As customers expect quicker responses and more relevant interactions, businesses will be able to meet those demands, improving engagement and streamlining the customer journey. By leveraging Conversational AI, businesses can enhance the overall experience, drive stronger relationships, and free up resources to focus on higher-value strategic initiatives.
Kevin Smith – The Story Architect
I’m experimenting with AI and automation. My perception so far is that AI driven content does not perform well and that’s true on the whole, but I have seen experiments with really well trained AI content strategies that are driving traffic. The reality is that search engines can’t always tell what’s written by AI, but most of the content written by AI is boring. But someone who really knows how to tune a prompt can train an AI to write in a way that is more natural and engaging. So we can’t fully discount this yet.
There’s no doubt that automation is a marketer’s best friend to scale operations, and AI will enhance automation. But marketing success happens with in-depth insight into your target audiences and how your product can meet their needs and interests. Automation is a way to help deliver that narrative to the people who matter to you.
AI and marketing automation are expected to evolve significantly by 2025, offering transformative possibilities for businesses. When it comes to marketing, we know that customers value personalization and connection, and in 2025 AI will help further that notion.
AI will enable marketing automation tools to deliver highly personalized experiences across channels. By leveraging advanced AI models and customer data, businesses can craft tailored messages, recommendations, and offers in real time to their customers. Predictive analytics will anticipate customer needs more accurately, improving conversion rates and engagement.
When it comes to content, AI will continue to be a key player for businesses of all sizes. I use various AI tools to help with content ideation and creation, and as AI tools continue to evolve and improve, I will become more reliant on these tools. AI will continue to streamline content creation for blogs, emails, social media, and ad copy. I look forward to using AI to
- Automate A/B testing and adjust campaigns dynamically
- Generate content that aligns more deeply with brand voice and audience preferences
- Use advanced natural language understanding to create persuasive, human-like copy for short and long form content
AI and marketing automation continue to redefine how businesses connect with their audiences. However, staying ahead requires more than adopting the tools—it’s about leveraging them strategically and ethically. By embracing the opportunities AI offers while addressing challenges like data privacy and transparency, marketers can ensure they thrive in this ever-evolving digital landscape.
