The main challenge to execute the efforts described above require a data-driven approach and tools to transform that data into action at scale.

Managing data and hyper-personalization at scale require either a massive team or the smart use of AI. Therefore, AI and sales automation are set to transform sales processes in 2025 and beyond. Enhanced lead scoring, predictive sales analytics, and automated administrative tasks will improve efficiency and productivity. AI will enable personalized customer engagement and provide tailored training programs for sales reps. These advancements will allow sales teams to work smarter, focus on high-value activities, and drive better results, making the sales process more strategic and customer-centric.

AI will continue evolving and will increase the value it provides to organization. Therefore, companies need to start transforming their sales motions with AI if order to remain competitive. This is a Journey that is just starting.

Your team needs to be willing, able and excited to try new tech. To test it, break it… quickly and repeatedly. AI is exciting and useful; At the same time it can’t replace solid foundations. I like to say “trash messaging at scale, is still trash”. AI automations only amplify that reality. There are incredible tools available to us: the skill that’s really going to make the difference is your team’s ability to adapt to new tech. This means learning it, trying it, and being able to recognize what’s usable and quickly abandoning what isn’t.

In 2024, we explored a few different sales AI and automation solutions and we will do the same in 2025. I think that it is interesting to explore these solutions to see if there is one or two that can improve results. In 2024, we did find a AI writing solution that was effective in helping to develop sales messaging for outbound emails. When compared to what we could write ourselves, the results were virtually the same in our A/B testing.

We also tried a few sales automation solutions that claimed they used AI but didn’t really. These were both leveraging Linkedin to drive better connections and ultimately drive leads. I did not find these effective in driving real leads at all. If improving connections was the goal, then it would be considered successful.

For 2025, I would really like to see if there is an AI sales solution that can help to actually find and then quality opportunities.

Mid to large organizations with established sales teams and robust technology stacks are likely already using AI, as it is embedded in many current CRM’s and other sales tools. Lead scoring and forecasting are two of the more common applications. Some teams are also using it to automate interactions with buyers (i.e. AI chatbots). However, smaller teams without all the tools can still benefit from AI by using it to research companies, territories, or industries, and to support with personalization of emails or proposals. Be sure to review any content generated by AI carefully for accuracy.

Every year we test new AI and automation tools. For 2025 we plan to use more AI tools for research.  For account based sales we have been using ChatGPT to find targets.  This has proven to save a lot of time and the results have been good. As an example for one client we asked questions on locations and a very specific product set they focus on.  A new tool we will explore is Preplexity. The team will also take another look at the AI options with existing tools like HubSpot.
