VA Partners provides multiple programs around Founder-led sales training.  This is one of the key focus areas for our  B2B sales training programs . Most of the people  involved in the founder-led sales training  have a technical or operational background.  They don’t have a sales background to draw upon.  I really enjoy working with these founders as they are passionate about their company/solution and they have a great desire to learn and get better.  Most of my Founder-led sales training programs include multiple sessions.  This can range from 4 to 12 weeks depending on the program. Here is what you can expect.

Sales Strategy

For start-ups you have two finite resources, your time and money. It is essential to create a great sales strategy and a plan for short, medium and long term success. This incorporates sales goals and targets.  Having a tight ideal customer profile and buyer personas is key to sales success.  Out of the training you will have the foundation to create your own sales plan.

Sales 101

There will be a healthy amount of sales 101. This means some of the basics about sales.  That could include messaging, handling objections, using LinkedIn, delivering a sales elevator pitch, asking questions, and conducting a sales meeting.  These tactics and tasks may be new to them, so we cover the best practices and examples..

Sales Process

I am a big believer in sales process and creating repeatable steps.  Sales is not just an art, but a science as well. We will cover the steps in your sales process, defining a sales cadence, and integrating these into tools you use like your CRM.

Sales Leadership

Selling and sales strategy is one thing, managing a sales person and growing your sales team is another. My programs could cover hiring, recruiting, and then managing your sales person. Managing a sales person is much different than other roles like operations, development, and finance.

Active Learning

I believe in active learning for my sales programs. That goes for my training for BDRs to the Founder-led sales training. This means mini exercises, role play, and lots of opportunity to ask questions. It is great to get people involved and we have some great improvement through the program.

Using Tools

There are many great tools that are free or nearly free for start-ups.  In my sessions we will use tools are part of the training including doing things like sample prompts in ChatGPT or research in LinkedIn.

Implement Immediately

The training is structured in a way that the founders can take the learnings and try them between the sessions.  I have had people change their messaging, reachout with the new messaging, and book discovery calls before our next session.  The training is very practical and can be implemented with some time.
