Grow Your Business with LinkedIn

If you are a trying to grow your business you need to be using LinkedIn. There are several benefits that can be realized using this robust free tool (there are more features for a fee as well). The key is using your network to get to people and opportunities that you might not have been aware of. I suggest that you spend a few minutes everyday in LinkedIn.

Here are a few suggestions on a game plan for LinkedIn:

Create a Profile

When you start take the time and fill in your profile as completely as possible.

Make Connections

Look to add a new contact everyday. Search past employers and educational institutions. Look at who your contacts are adding. You may be able to connect with a former colleague you have lost track of.

Seek Introductions

When your contacts add connections, see if they are people that you might like to know and ask for an introduction.

Research

When you are prospecting put the company name into the people search and you will see how you are connected to a company. You can then track back through your connections and see how you might be connected with target contacts.

Join Groups

I suggest joining a few groups. There are many to choose from. You should focus on verticals and geographies that meet your target customers and interests. Try some out if there is no activity or lots of spammy messages you can leave. You will be aware of jobs, discussions, events, and new members to each group.

Take a look at the answers category. There are lots of great topics where you can learn from. Try and answer a question or two each week. This could lead to an opportunity for your company. It is also good business Karma to help out someone.
