Community Causes VA Partners Supported This Year

VA Partners believes in supporting community causes and donates a certain number of paid volunteer time every year for employees to get involved with various organizations. Employees have contributed in a variety of ways, including helping organize events, volunteering and managing the organization’s website.

Here are a few of the organizations that VA Partners employees have been involved with this past year.

Daily Bread Food Bank

The Toronto Daily Bread Food Bank provides food for an average of 63,000 visits a month to food banks and prepares more than 3000 meals that are sent out every week to shelters, hostels and neighbourhood meal programs across the Toronto area.

The VA Partners team volunteered for an afternoon last week to help distribute food items to Daily Bread food bank visitors, ranging from rice/cereals, fresh vegetables, healthy snacks to juices.

Startup Canada

Founded in May 2012, Startup Canada has quickly become the most recognized, energized and active entrepreneurship organization in Canada. Startup Canada has mentored more than 20,000 Canadians and has grown to represent over 80,000 entrepreneurs, 400 enterprise support partners, 300 volunteers and 20 Startup Communities from coast-to-coast.

Startup Canada recently launched a Financial Literacy campaign, kicked off by Kevin Sorenson, Minister of State (Finance) to help educate entrepreneurs.

Farm Radio International

Farm Radio International is a Canadian charity working with more than 500 radio partners in 38 African countries to fight poverty and food insecurity. Radio partners use our resources to produce and present relevant and educational programs for their audience of tens of millions of farmers. VA Partners helps by coordinating a curling bonspiel that raises funds and awareness for Farm Radio International.

Children’s Aid Foundation

The Children’s Aid Foundation funds programs to support Canadian kids and youth in foster homes, residential facilities, and supervised care. Last year, the foundation funded over $6 million in programs across the country, including 500 scholarships and awards for students in post-secondary school.

Bay Street Hoops

Since 1995, Bay Street Hoops has raised more than $2.4 million for children and youth charities in the Toronto area. Last year, over 500 players from Toronto law and accounting firms, financial services companies and other corporations, as well as hundreds of spectators and volunteers, attended the tournament and its related events.
