Social Media Management Routine [Video]

Here at VA Partners, we like to strive to continually improve our engagement on our social media platforms. A common misconception is that this requires a heavy investment in time and resources is simply not true. By using effective tools, and practices you can manage your social media accounts in a highly productive way.

The following video is my guide to conducting social media monitoring and scheduling so you can be as efficient as possible.

The first thing I do is open my Hootsuite account. Hootsuite is a social media management tool that allows you to easily monitor and schedule social content.

Engage

Once I’m logged in, I will check for social engagement, which I’ve organized in the first tab of my account. In this view, I have streams including my retweets, and mentions and scheduled tweets. I’ll review these tabs to see how we can respond to any questions that may have come up, send thanks for sharing and in general to see what others are saying about VA Partners. I will also check to see if any new and interesting people have followed us and decide whether or not to follow them back.

Monitor

Next, I’ll move on to the monitoring stage of my routine. In the second tab of my Hootsuite account, I have all my Twitter lists that help me easily scan for relevant information. There’s no shortage of great content being published every day. Twitter lists help you navigate and to organize all this information. I have lists including topic specific ones like sales, marketing, and social media resources. Other helpful lists include our customers, employees, and local influencers.

Schedule

Now that I’ve scanned new content, I can schedule my social media posts. I will simply click on a piece of content that I want to share and hit retweet. This makes it easier to post since the link and image is already included in my tweet. I will then edit the post and choose when it should be posted, and on which social media network. Remember to include all relevant hashtags and account mentions in the post. We like to post a good mix of VA Partners content and 3rd party content.

Review

As a review, I will then click into the scheduled tweets section of Hootsuite by clicking on the paper plane icon. In this view, I can see all my scheduled tweets to make sure they are going out at the right times, from the right accounts and include the right links and mentions. You can edit individual tweets by clicking on the pencil icon.

I will typically spend 30 minutes at the beginning of the day to monitor and schedule social media posts. I may also pop in a couple times throughout the day for a few minutes to address any immediate questions or responses that are required.
